We’re taking a break from black ink for a bit, and hitting some colorful options!
We’re starting with the ink that pissed me off so much I decided to do ink reviews in the first place.
Bungubox L’amant. A dark fuchsia with a gold sheen and completely misleading advertising material.

Bungubox L’amant doesn’t look like the swatches stores use to advertise it. It’s so much darker, and so much redder, when you actually use it out of a pen. Notably, the most egregiously dissimilar marketing swatch comes straight from Bungubox themselves.

These are from Bungubox, Vanness, and JetPens respectively.
I don’t put the blame on these stores (except Bungubox). The issue is that companies are now formulating ink to look great in swatches without any care for how the ink actually looks when you use it out of a fountain pen. They are fountain pen inks. They should look good out of fountain pens.
Here’s my tests, so you can compare.

As you can see, aside the color inconsistency, the ink is fine. It dries relatively quickly, doesn’t bleed or feather any more than a standard fountain pen ink, and it has an average flow.
It shades a lot, which looks nice, but doesn’t look like the color they’re marketing. And it has a gold sheen that appears sometimes where ink pools up. It’s enough that you’ll probably get some sheen whenever you write, but you’ll have to pool it on to see a LOT of sheen.
It isn’t waterproof or even water resistant. You will not recover any writing if you get the paper wet, so don’t get your paper wet.
On top of all of that… Bungubox inks cost an ABSURD $45 USD for 30ml. That’s ridiculous. That’s so excessive I can’t see why anyone would ever buy a Bungubox ink. Especially when the color is inconsistent and doesn’t actually look like what they advertise.
If you’re baller enough to afford it, by all means. But at $45 for 30ml, you should be getting exactly what they say you will, and you don’t. So I say skip this one.
Check out what I have to say here on Youtube!
I bought a bottle of this with my own money, and then sold that bottle as soon as I was done with this review, so I could pretend it never happened.
You can make bad monetary decisions at JetPens, Vanness, and Yoseka, if you want to try this ink out. I’m not affiliated with any of them, so I earn nothing for sending you their way. I just like the stores.
